Bayeux
Medieval city
On the banks of the Aure in Normandy, about ten kilometres from the Channel coast, the small town of Bayeux is full of treasures, witnesses of its past.
The historic city centre offers its cobbled streets for strolling. Take advantage of your stay in our hotel Château Sully to stroll through the half-timbered houses and private mansions of the 18th and 19th centuries, and take a leap into history!
Bayeux
The tapestry of William the Conqueror
The town of Bayeux has 3 museums: The Bayeux Tapestry, the MAHB - Baron Gérard Museum of Art and History and the Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum.
Although the medieval city no longer has a castle, its magnificent Romanesque and Gothic cathedral nevertheless exhibits a true masterpiece, unique in the world: the Bayeux tapestry is listed in the UNESCO "Memory of the World" register. The tapestry is nearly 70 metres long and tells the story of William the Conqueror's conquest of England.
